Yesterday was National Custodian Day, and this group of 6th grade students wrote notes of appreciation for our wonderful custodian. Miss Lindzee was touched by how kind and thoughtful the students' notes were. Our entire CE building - from staff to students - would like Miss Lindzee to know that we echo the sentiments of these students. We are grateful for the countless ways she takes care of the building, our needs, and the students; plus her quick responses to the S.O.S. texts and calls she regularly receives. Thank you, Lindzee! Attention Volleyball Fans!
The Mesabi East Volleyball boosters and team would like to invite the teams that are participating in our tournament on 10/5 to participate in our Pink Out fundraiser for Breast Cancer. This is completely voluntary and 100% of the funds are being donated to a local chapter to keep the monies in our local communities.
Last week, the first grade classes were visited by two nurses from Duluth. They came to tell us about our friend and classmate, Samuel, and his recent diagnosis with leukemia. Sam also joined us over Zoom so we got to say Hi, offer well wishes, and ask questions. We are Standing Strong and Supportive with Sam and his family on his journey. We have a Monkey in a Chair to hold Sam's desk spot, participate with classroom activities, and give an outlet for our students who have big feelings while our friend is out.
Please join us in offering words of encouragement and support to our brave friend Sam!
Junior high runners had a meet at Fayal Pond on Tuesday. Keelia, Ethan, and Jasper earned a ribbon for a top 20 finish. Carson ran away with a top 5 medal! Congrats to all! 👏
Mrs.Stish's Kindergarten class did an awesome job leading the Bluestreak assembly at the Vaughan-Steffensrud. They gave a great lesson on the planet Mercury.

The CHS Cross Country team is hosting a Don LaLonde Memorial 4k Glow Run/Walk TONIGHT at 7:30 at Kiwanis Park. Come at 7:00 to buy your glow sticks for $1. Registration is not required. Participate at your own risk. Everyone is welcome!
PreK4’s classroom theme is BAKING AND COOKING this year! Our first recipe was making strawberry/banana smoothies!

The Industrial Tech. classes from Mr. Johnson's and Mr. Provinzino's classes attended the 7th annual Future Forest Stewards Event at the Itasca County Fairgrounds during the North Star Logging Expo on Friday September 13th.
Homework Help for students in grades 4, 5, & 6 will begin next week! Students who will be utilizing this service should sign up in the office. They may choose to attend one or both days each week.

Our Kids Plus Reading Pals program began this week. Second grade students got to know their adult reading pal and read them a story. Reading pal students will read over 50 books throughout the school year as well as work on spelling, vocabulary, and building intergenerational relationships.
