Attached you will find the January Scholarship Bulletin. With the break coming up, don't forget to look it over as some scholarships are due at the beginning of January. Also, the FAFSA is now open and is a very easy process!! Make sure to complete it sooner rather than later if you will be attending college in the fall. I can help walk you through the process, just come and see me!

Holiday Absences Students and parents need to communicate with the school regarding specific holiday-related absences to ensure an understanding of policies and any necessary arrangements. Please contact the school to prepare assignments or any other special arrangements.

Congratulations to this week's CHS Students and Staff of the Week: Mr. Cerar – Nominated by Summer Burgau Mr. Cerar is an amazing teacher and definitely knows how to teach history. He explains everything very well, so it makes it easy for us to understand. Mr. Cerar has an amazing way on how he has things set up in his room. He also knows how to make us laugh. Thank you, Mr. Cerar, for being our teacher! Ethan Moody – Nominated by Mr. Milani Ethan brings an energy to class each day that is infectious. He is willing to participate and always ready to learn. Keep up the great work Ethan. Vivian Polaske – Nominated by Mrs. Allen Vivian has done exceptional work this year, pushing beyond the minimum required. Keep up the good work! Vivian Polaske & Orion Szweduik – Nominated by Mr. Freitas Vivian and Orion are making great strides in Junior High Band this year. They are engaged in class, trying their best every day, attending lessons regularly, and bring energy and enthusiasm to the band. Keep up the good work trumpets!

The TROUT Eggs are in!! Over 20,000 Rainbow Trout (steelhead) eggs are being distributed across Minnesota this week, and our very own Chisholm High School is participating in the 7th Grade Life Science class for the 5th year! Mrs. Allen predicts that there are about 300 eggs in the basket as of this afternoon. The students will count the eggs tomorrow! Once the year gets closer to release day, the 7th-grade students will begin their Fishy Friday Journal. The journal is a way for students to collect both qualitative and quantitative data on the young trout as they grow! Students will observe the growth of the fish as well as take down data on how the water quality is doing as the fish feed and grow. Data is taken on Survivorship and Water Quality, which will include, temperature, as well as all steps in the Nitrogen Cycle (Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate), and pH. Here is hoping for another great year participating in Minnesota's Trout in the Classroom Program. 7th graders will plan to take their annual release day trip in late May to the lake assigned by the Minnesota DNR Fisheries Department, to collect more ecological data, and release their trout!

CHS Students and Staff of the Week from last week! Mrs. Crotteau – Nominated by Dane Majewski Mrs. Crotteau is very nice and has a great personality. Aiden Caudullo & Lewis Philbrick – Nominated by Carol Wald I am nominating these two from the Drama Department. These guys were willing to put in extra effort to help out when things needed to get done. Both have great manners and positive attitudes on and off the stage. Thanks for making my job a little easier! Makk Scherfenberg – Nominated by Mr. Lewis Makk consistently works hard on his academics in English and Math. He is a very conscientious student. McKenzi Anderson – Nominated by Mr. Backstrom McKenzi has been one of my top seventh grade students this year. She always finishes her work on time, is a great participant in class, and does a very nice job keeping me on track once I start going ranting about my pet peeves. Thank you, McKenzi.
