My name is Ryan Freitas, and I am the band teacher here at Chisholm.  This is my sixth year teaching in Chisholm, and my eighth year teaching overall.  I grew up in Coon Rapids, MN and graduated from Blaine High School in 2006.  After that, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota in 2011.  I taught two years at Northeast Range in Babbitt, and then found my way to Chisholm.

I am an active performer around the Iron Range.  I have played clarinet in the Mesabi Symphony Orchestra for the last six years, and am the co-director of the Virginia Summer City Band.   I have also played in the pit orchestras for several musical productions throughout the last few years, including the Ely Community Theater, Hibbing HS, Virginia HS and the Mesabi Community Theater.

In addition to a great job, I have a fantastic family too!  My wife Marie is the band teacher at the Cherry School.  Our son Henry celebrated his second birthday this summer, and we will soon welcome a baby girl into our family.  We have the makings of our very own family band!  My wife and I have fun trying to guess what instruments they will play (probably many).  I also have a chocolate lab named Pancake, and two cats named Meeko and Emmi.

On my website, you will find a few useful links.  The Classes tab on the left will give you access to class syllabi and recordings of our band songs to aid in student practice.

Thanks for stopping by, feel free to contact me with any questions.  Have a great school year!
