Welcome to Third Grade

Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to our third grade class. I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive year. We all have much to learn. This is my 9th year as a third grade teacher. Prior to this I have 12 years in the K-3 Title I program, 2 years teaching at Victory Christian Academy, and subbing in the areas of Chisholm, Hibbing, Bemidji, and Pembina.

Curriculum Areas we will focus on this year include: Reading, Spelling, Grammar, Writing, Math, Social Studies, Science, and a variety of  Art activities.

Specialists:  Phy Ed, Music

I do S.M.A.R.T. Training daily with my class. Other special things listed on the colored Information Sheet you'll receive at the beginning of the year.

Homework: If your child is spending more than 30-45 minutes on homework PLEASE CALL ME!! I am sending home some materials to think about concerning homework time. See INFO SHEET

We have Power school—there have been some changes—please be patient with me. I often work with students before and after school, rarely do I enter grades during the day so I may take a few days to get everything posted.

Conduct and Effort grades will be letter grades. All of my students start out with a C: which is considered average/satisfactory. Students earn A’s (excellent) and B’s (above average) by doing their work well and doing their best, along with good manners in all areas of school. Any questions—email, visit or call me.

Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. I hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school sponsored events as possible. Need ideas on how you can be involved? Just ask.

If you have any questions or concerns, visit, schedule a conference, or volunteer you can contact me at 254-5726 ext. 1150 (7:30-8:15 a.m. or 2:50-3:30 p.m.). I can also be reached by email at .

There are many forms for you to sign and return. If you need help or clarification about what to do please feel free to contact me. So many forms can be overwhelming!!! I’ll send the school things home and later I’ll send the things that I need from you.

 Welcome to third grade!
